Nightingale requested for Fall Patient

On June 22 2010 around 1221 CVFD responded to a reported fall from a ladder at a construction site in the Ashby subdivision of Carrollton. Squad-10 and Rescue-10 responded. S-10 crew requested ALS support from IWVRS and placed Nightingale air ambulance on stand-by. R-10 crew established landing zone next to Carrollton Post Office and laid charged hose line for LZ safety. Patient was transported by air ambulance to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital Trauma Center.

MVA Smiths Neck Rd

On June 17 2010, around 0753 hrs CVFD responded to a reported three vehicle collision on Smith's Neck Road near Hayne's Lane. Squad-10 and Quint-10 responded (Rescue-10 was temporarily OOS) First arriving volunteers reported one patient with minor injury. Q-10 crew provided scene protection while S-10 crew stabilized, packaged and transported one patient to RRMC. 

MVA Nike Park Road / Titus Creek Dr

On May 28 2010, around 0655 hrs CVFD responded to a reported single vehicle collision at the intersection of Nike Park Road and Titus Creek Drive. Vehicle had truck a telephone pole and broke it in half, no one was transported.

Early morning MVA (Head-on) shuts down part of Benns Church Blvd

On May 2 2010, around 0007 hrs CVFD responded to a reported two vehicle head-on collision on Route 10, Benns Church Blvd, in front of St. Luke's Historic Shrine. Chief-10, Rescue-10, Quint-10, Squad-10 and Zone-11 were dispatched. First arriving unit reported entrapments in both heavily damaged vehicles and air ambulance service was requested. Smithfield VFD rescue units and Isle of Wight VRS ambulance units were also immediately requested and dispatched. Smithfield and Carrollton VFD crews conducted successful extrication operations for two ALS patients. IWVRS crews transported one patient to a local Emergency Room and the other patient to a landing zone established by SVFD crews at Station 60 in Smithfield. Second ALS patient was transported by LifeEvac crew. Two other patient refusals were obtained by Squad-10 crew and Carrollton and Smithfield units remained on scene until approximately 0215 to assist VSP and IWSD units with scene lighting, protection and clean-up.

MVA Carrollton Blvd (Jeb's Corner Market)

On April 29 2010, around 0006 hrs CVFD responded to a reported single vehicle in storm water retention pond at Jeb's Corner Market on Route 17, Carrollton Blvd.  Rescue-10, Squad-10 and Zone-11 arrived and reported a single vehicle upright with heavy damage and no injury to the driver. VSP and IWSD units on scene initiated investigation and reporting procedures. Squad-10 crew obtained patient refusal.  Rescue-10 crew provided scene protection and lighting and also disabled the vehicle's electrical system.  Units remained on scene to assist with vehicle removal from pond.

MVA Brewers Neck Blvd/New Towne Haven

On April 11 2010, around 0828 hrs CVFD responded to a reported MVC with injuries on Brewers Neck Blvd. at the Norsworthy Drive intersection. Rescue-10, Squad-10 and Zone-11 arrived to find two vehicles with moderate to heavy damage and two BLS trauma patients. Both Medic 11 and Squad 10 transported patients to a local hospital.
