At 1642 hours on September 1, 2006 Sta. 10 & 50 (Smithfield) were dispatched to a structure fire at 24276 Bush Creek Cir. Q-10 arrived at 1648 and found the large ranch house with a full walk in basement heavily involved in fire. 2 1 ¾” hand lines were pulled one to the basement and one to the first floor. 104 (Captain Rawls) established an Incident Command. The fire was attacked in the basement while a primary search and extension was checked for on the first floor. T-10 arrived and established a water supply with E-10 assisting. S-10 arrived and established an EMS/rehab area. E-52 & E-53 arrived, E-53’s crew was utilized to assist with suppression while E-52 was sent back to Sta. 10 to cover. R-10 arrived and set up it’s cascade system to fill bottles. After an all clear, ventilation was established. Overhaul was delayed while VSP investigated. The cause was determined to be accidental in nature.
While this fire was being controlled, Sta. 50 was dispatched to a possible working fire in the town hall/fire station. R-10 responded to assist. Since Sta. 10 was no longer covered and R-10 had left Bush Creek to respond to Smithfield, Suffolk E-5 was requested to cover Sta. 10. Shortly after E-5 arrived. Sta. 10 was dispatched to an MVA on Rt-17. E-5, E-10 & S-10 responded to a minor MVA with minor injuries.
These and eight other calls were run by Sta. 10 on Sept first during Tropical Storm Ernesto.
