Between 0900 and 1000 May 10th, 2017 Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department hosted over 700 bike riders, police, escorts and support crews of two national law enforcement organizations who ride each year to remember their fallen comrades. The 260 rider Police Unity Tour (PUT) contingent arrived first preceded by their support crews who set up refreshment stations for the cyclists. The PUT riders departed after their well-earned 20 minute rest and recuperation break and an additional 300 riders of Law Enforcement United (LEU) arrived at Station-10 preceded by their support crews and staff. Both organizations ride for three days to arrive in Washington D.C. to honor and remember fallen law enforcement officers nationwide. Carrollton VFD was pleased and proud to provide sanitary facility accommodations and a pleasant Isle of Wight County respite for this “flash mob” of hard-riding cyclists who are also fellow first responders.
