Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched at 1:47 a.m. Thursday 25 September 2014 to a reported "...single vehicle, overturned..." on Nike Park Road near Waterview Trail. Carrollton volunteer crews in ambulance transport apparatus Squad-10 and motor vehicle collision unit Rescue-10 responded from Station-10 in moderate rain conditions, along with several volunteers in POVs. First arriving unit advised "...nobody in vehicle...searching for occupant..." S-10 arrived and located the driver, who had self extricated, approximately 150 yards east, seated in the roadway complaining of pain. Isle of Wight Sheriff's Deputy arrived to assist with traffic control and reporting protocols and the S-10 ALS crew transported the patient to the closest trauma center in Newport News. While these crews were still on this accident scene, Carrollton VFD received a second dispatch at 2:21 a.m. to a "...fire alarm..." on Twin Hill Lane off Smith's Neck Road. The R-10 crew responded and arrived to advise "...single story, residential, wood frame structure...nothing showing..." The firefighter crew reported a faulty fire alarm, advised the homeowner on corrective measures and returned to quarters.
