The second MVC at 9:18 p.m. was reported as "...motorcycle accident...rider off bike...is injured..." in the median strip on Brewer's Neck Blvd. near the Bartlett intersection. Carrollton volunteer crews responded in Rescue-10 and medical ambulance support was requested from the Isle of Wight Rescue Squad (IWVRS) in Smithfield. EMTs and firefighters in R-10 arrived on scene and initiated medical trauma care to stabilize the patient for transport. Availability of Nightingale Air Ambulance was confirmed but the patient's injuries were assessed as requiring only ground transport and Nightingale was advised to stand down. IWVRS ambulance unit Medic-65 arrived and transported the patient to the nearest level II trauma center. Carrollton volunteers remained on scene to assist law enforcement with HAZMAT mitigation and vehicle recovery until cleared at 9:34 p.m. |
