Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched at 2:30 p.m. Monday 25 August 2014 to a reported "...car ran off the road into a ditch..." on Carrollton Blvd. at Bush Creek Circle just north of the Crittenden Bridge. Carrollton volunteer crews in ambulance unit Medic-11 and collision response apparatus Rescue-10 responded quickly from Station-10 as Chief-10 also responded from the Bartlett area. On arrival, the incident commander advised "...single vehicle over the embankment into the woods..." as the R-10 EMS crew initiated rapid medical assessment of the driver who was still in the vehicle. After determining that the occupant was not injured, the volunteers assisted the driver out of the vehicle, secured the patient on a stretcher as a precaution and placed the patient in M-11 for detailed medical assessment. Upon arrival of a family member it was determined that transport to a nearby ED was advisable. Also arriving on scene were a Virginia State Police unit and a wrecker crew. R-10 remained on scene for the vehicle recovery operation until cleared at 3:46 p.m.
