Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched at 8:28 p.m. Monday 18 August 2014 to a reported "...brakes on fire...gasoline tanker...Bojangles parking lot..." Volunteer crews in Engine-10, Zone-11 and other volunteers in POVs responded quickly to the scene. The driver stated that 8000 gallons of gasoline were in the tanker trailer and his rapid action using the on-board fire extinguisher brought the flames under control. Upon arrival, Carrollton VFD firefighters used water from hand lines to cool down the remaining hot areas on the truck chassis thereby averting a potentially very dangerous fire/HAZMAT incident. The fire was reported extinguished at 8:33 p.m. and all Carrollton VFD crews and units were cleared from the scene and available by 8:55 p.m. to return to quarters.
