Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday 23 April 2014 to a reported "structure fire" on Vellines Lane in the northern area of the department's first response district in Carrollton, Virginia. Isle of Wight Sheriff's Deputy on scene reported "shed on fire...propane tank close to structure." Per Isle of Wight County structure fire "automatic aide" protocols, Smithfield Volunteer Fire Dept. (SVFD) was also dispatched and Rushmere VFD Tanker-30 was requested. An aggressive fire attack by the E-10 crew quickly brought the fire under control which was reported at 10:57 and arriving SVFD units Engine-50, Engine-52 and Engine-53 assisted to rapidly extinguish the fire, protect surrounding exposures and assist with overhaul operations. The fire was reported out at 12:01 and all CVFD, SVFD and RVFD units were cleared from the scene shortly after that.
