Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched 0707 Friday 17 Jan. 2014 to a reported fire alarm in a residence in the northeastern area of Station-10's first response district. Carrollton VFD Engine-10 and Zone-11 responded immediately and other volunteers responded to the station to crew additional apparatus. E-10 and Z-11 arrived on scene to report smoke and fire residue in the crawl space beneath an occupied dwelling. Carrollton units Quint-10, Rescue-10, and Tanker E-22 responded along with other volunteers arriving in POVs. Investigation revealed that quick action by the homeowner probably averted a serious structure fire and Carrollton crews confirmed no extension and full extinguishment by entering the crawl space to thoroughly inspect the seat of the fire. Special mention to K. Wilkins, C. Mullen and M. Reily for getting their turnout gear really dirty when they low-crawled under the house. All Carrollton units were cleared from the scene and available by 0822.
