Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department provided a 15 minute rest and refreshment stop 10 a.m. Friday May 10th 2013, for over 400 bicyclists participating in the annual Law Enforcement United ride to honor the service and sacrifice of all law enforcement officers nationwide. Each year law enforcement officer volunteers ride for three days from Chesapeake, Virginia, to Washington DC to participate in the National Peace Officer Memorial Day Service. Carrollton VFD Station-10 offered its grounds, engine bay and restroom facilities to these hearty bikers who volunteered their personal time and resources to honor their brother officers. The bicyclists were escorted by 25 uniformed officers on motorcycles and numerous support vehicles that provided refreshments and bicycle repairs along the 125 mile route. Carrolton Volunteer Fire Department is pleased to assist this worthy endeavor each year.
