Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched 0518 Tuesday 26 June 2012 to a reported multi-vehicle collision at the intersection of Routes-17, 32 and 258 in Bartlett, Virginia. Carrollton VFD volunteers and apparatus Medic-11, Rescue-10 and Zone-11 responded to the scene about one mile north of Station-10. First arriving unit noted three vehicles involved with minor damage and one possible injury. The driver of the first vehicle was extricated using the KED to reduce movement of the patient because of possible spinal compromise and secured on a backboard for stability. Isle of Wight County Sheriff's Deputies arrived to conduct traffic control operations due to heavy morning rush-hour conditions. One BLS patient was transported to the local trauma center in Newport News and volunteer crews remained on scene for vehicle recovery operations until 0707 when all Carrollton units were made available.
