Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched 1323 Wednesday 13 July 2011 to a reported "18 wheeler just turned over on it's side" at the Bartlett intersection of Route's 17 and 32. Carrollton units Rescue-10, Engine-10, Squad-10 and Zone-11 responded. Lieutenant T. Nunez arrived on scene at 1324 followed by Assistant Chief G. Rawls who assumed incident command. The driver of the vehicle had self-extricated and was uninjured. R-10 crew immediately mitigated a HAZMAT spill from the tractor's tank with fuel absorbent and S-10 was released to be available. The cargo was identified as "flooring material" which had shifted causing the trailer to overturn on the curve. Chip's Repair and Towing Service of Suffolk responded with four heavy-duty wrecker units to clear the roadway. Carrollton VFD crews, VSP and IWSD units, supplied with cool Gatorade donated by Bloom's, remained on scene in 90 degree temperatures until cleared at 1533.
